About

Rose Rutledge
Producer, singer-songwriter, and rogue flutist.

Rose Rutledge is a musical force to be reckoned with. As a Brooklyn-based producer, singer-songwriter, and rogue flutist, she has carved out a unique sound that is eclectic, organic, and truly captivating.

At the heart of Rose's sound are her lush and layered "flutescapes," created using her one-woman flute choir. These soundscapes provide the perfect backdrop for her vocal productions and live looping performances. Blending Lofi ambient, electro-pop, and alternative indie with her formal training in jazz and classical genres, Rose's compositions are an exploration of the world around her, evoking a deep sense of nostalgia and hopeful energy.

Rose's most recent releases, 'Horoscope' and 'Shhh,' mark the beginning of a series of instrumental flutescapes, driven by layers of flutes paired with lo-fi beats. But it's her upcoming single, 'Own World,' that truly showcases Rose's incredible range as an artist. In this vocal-led piece, Rose explores the feeling of missing out on a beautiful reality due to modern-day distractions, weaving her powerful voice through the intricate flutescape.

Growing up Rose was submerged in a rich music scene in Seattle, taking up both flute and saxophone at an early age and competing on national stages in both classical and jazz genres. She left Seattle to study at the Blair School of Music in Nashville TN earning the only multiple woodwinds degree juggling an array of flutes, clarinets, and saxophones and advocating strongly for jazz as part of the undergraduate curriculum at Blair. She moved to pursue a Master's in Jazz Studies at NYU studying with Ralph Lalama, Kenny Werner, Chris Potter, and adding the oboe to her repertoire with the help of Matt Sullivan.

As a sought-after woodwind player, Rose has performed on flute and saxophone with a variety of bands, both live and in recordings. Most recently her playing is featured on the albums of her frequent collaborators;  A Bunch of Dead People’s “Construct”  as well as Johnny Butler’s “Hyperviolet”. Rose has graced stages across the city, from underground venues to Broadway shows, Immersive theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Broadway, Le Poisson Rouge, and countless others.

Through her music, Rose Rutledge has created a world that is truly her own. With her unique blend of sounds and styles, she invites listeners to explore the world around them and connect with their own inner selves. With each new release, she elaborates on her sonic storytelling, leaving listeners eager to witness the evolution of her artistic journey.
